The Camp Fire, a devastating and fast-moving wildfire ravaging California, has caused Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. to close its Chico brewery until further notice.

A Facebook post from the company Friday announced the closure and shared photos of the brewery with the immense wildfire raging on hillsides nearby. The photos showed the sky above the facility completely filled with thick smoke.

“Our brewery is close to the fire and safety is our first priority,” the post says. “As such, the Chico brewery will be closed until further notice.”

In less than an hour, the post had garnered 82 comments and 263 shares, the vast majority showing support and sending their best wishes for the brewery.

“Many of you have so generously reached out about fundraising efforts and asking how you can help,” the post continues. “At this point, we are entirely focused on making sure people are safe, but will follow up with more information shortly. Many of our employees are currently affected by this fire and we may be slower than usual to respond to messages. Thank you so much for all of your support. We are so grateful for the wonderful community we call home.”

This morning, the director of the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services said the fire in Northern California has claimed lives, the Associated Press reports. Mark Ghilarducci said the number of deaths isn’t known, but there are also injuries.

He described the magnitude of the destruction as “unbelievable” and “heartbreaking.” The fire near the town of Paradise has grown to almost 110 square miles, and has caused the town of 27,000 residents to evacuate.

Evacuations have also been ordered on the edges of Chico, about 15 miles from a town where thousands of buildings have already been destroyed.

The fire is growing rapidly, the AP reports. After first being reported in a rural area shortly after daybreak Thursday, the fire had grown to more than 28 square miles by nightfall and was raging out of control.
