Tyler Perry pays off $430K worth of layaways

Tyler Perry played a new role at two Atlanta-area Walmarts — Not So Secret Santa.

The “Madea” creator shelled out more than $400,000 to pay for all the layaway items at one of the retail giant’s locations in East Point and another in Douglasville, according to local station WSB-TV 2.

He intended to keep the generous donation under wraps — but made the announcement in a Twitter video Thursday after the word quickly spread.

“I know it’s hard times, everyone’s struggling and I’m just really, really grateful to be able to be in a position to this,” Perry said in the video. “So, God bless you, go get your stuff. Merry Christmas!”

Anyone who had items on layaway before 9:30 a.m. Thursday is covered — and will only need to pay one penny to retrieve their items, Perry said.

The actor, director and producer signed a lucrative deal with Viacom last year to produce about 90 episodes annually of original drama and comedy series for BET another Viacom networks, The Wrap reported. The deal will run until 2024.
