Greenville County Deputy Injured

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle off Wade Hampton Blvd. this morning around 4:30.

The Deputy that responded found a black, late 90’s, four door model, Honda in the parking lot.  The Deputy got out of his vehicle to approach and determine if there were occupants and what the vehicle was doing there when the driver started the engine and began to drive towards the Deputy.  The Deputy gave verbal commands to the driver to stop and shut of the engine, but the driver ignored these commands and struck the Deputy.  The Deputy discharged his weapon at the vehicle, but the vehicle accelerated off at a high rate of speed, traveling north on Wade Hampton Blvd.  At this time we do not have any indication that anyone was struck by the deputy’s gunfire.

The Deputy sustained minor injuries to his leg from the impact with the vehicle.

This is an active investigation by both GCSO and SLED.
