Pedestrian struck by freight train in Villa Park; Metra UP-W service disrupted

A pedestrian was struck by a freight train in Villa Park Monday morning, affecting service on the Metra UP-West line.

Initially, inbound and outbound train movement on the line was halted. Later, Metra inbound trains were moving with delays while outbound service remained halted.

At about 7 a.m., Metra said inbound and outbound service

At about 5 a.m., Metra said inbound trains will be able to proceed on track three and outbound service will remain halted.

Metra says inbound trains will be operating 15 minutes behind schedule because trains need to slow down at the incident site. Metra said outbound service is expected to be restored at around 7:15 a.m.

Authorities have not released information on the condition of the pedestrian who was struck.
