SEC official suspended, and Billy Kennedy out at Texas A&M; Buzz Williams next?

The SEC Tournament is in full swing, but if you are someone that keeps up with the SEC officials then you would have noticed that referee Anthony Jordan hasn’t called any of the games there.

That’s because Jordan has been suspended by the SEC, according to Jimmy Hyams of WNML radio out of Knoxville.

If you remember, Jordan is one of the officials that were on the call for the LSU Tigers match-up with the Tennessee Volunteers that ended in controversial fashion.

After that game, it was discovered on Jordan’s Facebook page that he had a photo of himself on there with LSU gear. This discovery led to further investigation, and in an article on Saturday Down South, it was noted that Jordan called more fouls on Tennessee than the other two officials combined in that match-up.

Jordan didn’t call another game for the rest of the SEC season and will not call a game in the 2019 SEC Tournament. Who knows what the future will be for the 19-year official, but it looks like his season has come to a close.

Also in the SEC, the Texas A&M Aggies have officially fired head basketball coach Billy Kennedy following the Aggies’ 80-54 loss to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament.

SportDay reported that the school is now officially looking for a new coach, but the athletic director Scott Woodward had a ton of praise for Kennedy.

”Billy’s tenure included some great memories and remarkable achievements,” Woodward said. “He represented our program and Texas A&M University with distinction.”

Kennedy finishes his eight year career at A&M with an overall record of 151-116 with two NCAA Tournament appearances. It is shocking that the school would let Kennedy go after struggling in a year when he lost four out of five starters from a year ago.

Now, the Aggies are reportedly set to pursue Virginia Tech’s Buzz Williams as their next coach. If Buzz joins the SEC, it would make an already-stacked league even deeper, as he is one of the best coaches in college hoops.
