Luka Doncic won't play in final matchup against Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday night

DALLAS — Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic will not play in Saturday night’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers because of a bruised right knee. It’s the final game of the season between the two teams.

Doncic was listed as questionable going into the game and head coach Rick Carlisle made the official announcement during his pregame chat with reporters.

In the first meeting against the Cavs this season, Doncic scored 35 points to go with 11 rebounds and six assists.

“He’s good. Really good,” Cavs head coach Larry Drew said of Doncic. “Heard good things about him, but he’s better than I thought he was and heard he was. His ability to make shots and when he passes the basketball, he has a good feel for the game. He plays with a lot of confidence. When he came into our building, he certainly put on a show. He’s a terrific player and the city should be very proud and excited to have a talent like him.”

Doncic, the Rookie of the Year frontrunner, is averaging 21.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 32.3 minutes.
